May. 24th, 2003 11:49 pm"You're not a human, are you?" Hikaru asked Kohaku. Touya and Chihiro both were too far away to hear his soft question, which is how he wanted it.
Kohaku seemed startled. "I'm not," he agreed, then asked curiously, "How did you know?"
"You're too pretty," Hikaru promptly replied. "Well, so's Touya, but I mean... his skin has flaws. Yours doesn't. You're all, what's the word, symmetrical. People aren't."
"So I don't look human, if you know what to look for," Kohaku mused.
"Yup. You also move funny. Too smoothly."
"Is that all?"
"I think one more thing. Can I?" Hikaru reached out and turned Kohaku's palm up. "Thought so. No calluses, and...." He peered closer. "No fingerprints either." He grinned at Touya's lookalike. "I'm a Go player. I pay attention to hands."
