Apparently The Pill is not supposed to stop your periods. Who knew? At least one of my friends seems to regard that result as its major advantage. However, the doctor wants me off of it for a few months. And I was on a very light version of birth control too. *sigh* Of to go get bloodwork and tests done in ~10 minutes.

My very Wonderful Husband knows precisely what delights me. [Or, in other terms: K-chan is easy to please.] Gift card for DVDs! Waiwaiwai! *happyspinnydance* And dinner out, and we went to Borders and found volume four of Hana-Kimi, which he reads and I do as well, though I usually don't read the translated stuff. Also skimmed a bit through the first volume of Petshop of Horrors... think I'll see if I can find the Japanese version at the furuhonya. Wonderful Valentine's Day. Now, to plan for White Day....

Also found out last night (via cosplay.com) about Lingerie Soldier Papillon Rose, a hentai parody of Sailor Moon that sounds fun. I continue to be amused....

*raises eyebrow* I've been getting by on a period once every three months or so for several years now just fine... geez, doctors can never agree on ANYTHING. *rolls eyes in annoyance*

My GYN says it's normal for periods to get very light or even be missed altogether. You might want to get a second opinion.

Well, if you are deliberately suppressing the withdrawal bleed by skipping the placebo week, that is a little different. But still, I also thought it was possible for the withdrawal bleed to get very light and even sometimes be suppressed entirely.

I'd get a second opinion, or at the very least press your doctor for more info. What, specifically, is he concerned about?

He may want you off the pill so he can get a more accurate reading on the hormone function tests, though, before he puts you back
on it.

I think she's mostly concerned about my not having a period for five months and the effect that might have on my estrogen levels.

It depends on which pill you're on... but the pill isn't designed to stop your periods... in essence, while you're taking the 3 weeks of hormones, your body is under the impression that it's pregnant... then you stop the hormones, take the 4th week (which consists of sugar pills), and in that time you should get your period.
The pill should most likely make your period more regular, though...
There is, however, a pill on the market now though, where you do get one period every 3 months because you're taking hormone pills for 3 months straight, then a weeks break, then back on... :-P

I've had regular periods since the very first one, so regulating them is not the problem. I think Dr. Rigonan's concern was that I wasn't getting my period at all during the week of sugar pills. (This might amuse you--her very first comment after entering the room was to ask if I was one of Greta's girls. ^_^)

probably just too high a dose of hormones for you then... will probably end up putting you on a low hormone dose... :)

do we really look that much like our mother??? :-P

I was already on a very low dose... but we'll see what she says. Guess I just put so few chemicals in my body that it reacts strongly to 'em?

And, yeah, I guess so. ^_^

the thing with BCP is that they're not chemical... they're hormonal... so it's probably just a sign that you have increased hormone levels already...
