I inherited one from my maternal grandmother (the cast iron machine which is currently in the shop). I inherited one from my paternal grandmother (it is currently not working but hidden away inside the very nice wooden sewing *desk* it came in... I'll get it repaired at some point). But before I inherited either of these, my parents bought me my own sewing machine, which has since been traded in for an upgrade. So, I have three sewing machines, none of which I bought.
And when (hopefully many, many decades in the future) my mother passes on, either my sister or I will inherit her antique electrical treading machine, which is absolutely exquisite.
I'm wondering. Given the short time frame, I'm wondering if this would be a good time for the bride to pay to send some of the dresses to a professional seamstress? I'm rather worried about you getting overwhelmed here.
Mmm, the work is actually easy enough... I'm just puzzled about why I keep breaking needles, as I'm sewing on sheer fabrics and I don't hear the needle hitting anything. *shrug*
