Heian HackySack
May. 22nd, 2003 11:00 amIn Japanese class this morning we watched a kind of quiz show program. One of the segments was "where did the design on this fabric originate?" A proposed answer involved a clip of a re-enactment of a Heian era game of Kemuri. Kemuri seems rather like hacky-sack played with a ball around the size of a volleyball. Kemuri was, in fact, so important that in classical Japanese the verb "keru" (to kick) has its own verb class.
I am currently picturing something about Hikaru playing hackysack and Sai being excited that Kemuri, like Go, has survived so many centuries intact. Hikaru no Kemuri? :)
Typed in scene for Shaman 7 last night. Up from 1K to 2K! Up to a confrontational pivot point! Mwaha. Now, to change the PoV or not, and if so to whose, and *what happens next*?
