The wedding was lovely. Ceremony outside, and the weather was perfect for it. But, alas, between the kid at the back and the traffic on the street outside, the background noise was annoying. The bride was lovely and I hope she and her new husband have a long, happy life together. My sister was very pink in her (very traditional) bridesmaid dress. So was the flowergirl (yes, the dress I made and posted pics of a while back). There were two cakes, both square. One was NEON yellow with bright pink and orange trim. I swear the thing could glow in the dark. (It did match the flowers, but at least their colors were natural.) I had to applaud, though, when it was cut open--the inside was yellow lemon cake so the color was the same inside and out. The other cake was brown with white icing decorations. The table gifts were bars of chocolate with a personalized wrapping (bride, groom, date, image, ingredients list for a good marriage, daily percent of love, etc., on the back) and votive candles with a similar personalized wrapping.

I got about 60 good photos on Wonderful Husband's digi-cam and got him onto the floor for three dances. The first two of which were swing. After the first (Brian Setzer Orchestra's version of "Jump, Jive, and Wail" which I consider to be a nice workout), we got applause (more so than the guy who kept going *all the way* through "Macarena" who gets props at least for perserverance) and this old guy in his seventies or eighties came up to us and was very complimentary. It probably wasn't that we're so great but rather the fact that Wonderful Husband and I know how to dance swing at all that delighted the old gent, I suspect. Because I took my dance classes in college, it doesn't seem that odd to me (doesn't everybody know how to dance? wasn't there that big swing boom a few years ago?), but when I look around, whether at this wedding or at people I know, there actually aren't many who *do* know how to dance beyond the "get on the floor and wiggle" thing. I enjoy dance; my love of social dance forms is perhaps my one bastion of grace.

*sigh* I need to get a real (day) job so I can start taking classes again and so that we can go to TJ's for swing nights....
