A bit of this, a bit of that
Nov. 1st, 2010 09:31 amI didn't end up writing anything yesterday. Bad me, I guess. But in the afternoon Wonderful Husband and I turned the compost and then I got to gardening, which was primarily pulling three tomato plants, including the kaijuu Yellow Pear plant (harvesting a bare last handful of fruit in the process and clipping off all green sprigs to go in a jar of water on the counter; surely one will root?), and chopping them all up into the "active" compost bin. I also tossed in the done pumpkin and melon vines (not the watermelon vines; those are still going strong) and a dead aubergine plant. A bowl of mixed harvested goodies sits on the counter (tomatoes, eggplant, lemons and some strawberries), and I'm pondering what to do with it. Maybe do stir-fry tonight to use up some of the eggplant? The newest batch of ginger beer starter is ready to go in jugs, so the lemons can be used for that tonight.
After the spate of clean-up gardening was done (waah, didn't get around to actually planting anything; we also didn't get a fountain this weekend for the wide bed) I showered and dressed nicely and we headed out. Having priced candy and figured out that it would cost us ~$45 to give it out this year, we opted for a nice dinner out instead. We went to Downtown Disney for a little bit first, looking at all the kids and their parents in costumes. I'm thinking next year (Halloween being on a Monday in 2011) we'll go there dressed up too. Maybe dine outdoors at the House of Blues? After all, I do have those life-sized Tinkerbell wings and it would be fun to wear them.... ;)
