Yesterday morning I went out into the garden and harvested a basketful (I kid you not, a literal basketful) of eggplant to take in to work. And at that it was a mere quarter of the fruit I have on my plants at the moment. Various coworkers exclaimed over the beautiful (mostly Asian type) eggplant and I didn't have to take any home at the end of the day. Thankfully.

My boss brought in squash plants for my coworker and I who garden. He'd bought a pair six-packs but only wanted two of each type so he gave the rest to us. "Coals to Newcastle," thought I, but I took and planted two of the pattypan ones anyway since I didn't have any pattypan squash started. I also put the four tromboncino and three yellow crookneck squash I'd started from seed in the new bed, and put a cloned yellow pear tomato in an empty spot by the eggplant.

Also found out yesterday that one of my coworkers had a (very mild; there's apparently no lasting damage) heart attack over the weekend. Given that she has a habit of doing herbal self-medication and going off her high blood pressure pills, this was a surprise but not a shock, if that makes sense. One of the times she's gone off her meds it was because her prescription running out meant God was telling her she didn't need it anymore. *rolls eyes* That time the boss and another coworker took her to the hospital during the middle of the day and the doctor said he didn't understand how she was still able to walk. I therefore hope that the heart attack will serve as a wakeup call for her to quit doing that kind of thing, but I will not expect it....
