Change in Plans
Feb. 1st, 2010 11:20 pmRight, so the next step in the Zig-Zag Dress was "cut bias strips." This would be easy, simple, and quick to do... if I could find the rest of the fabric. I know it's there somewhere. The problem is where, exactly, on my shelving unit the somewhere is. So rather than tear my hair out and shelves apart in frustration, I grabbed something simple: six yards of white polka dots on blue, and Butterick's (in)famous Walk-Away Dress pattern. Which has only three pieces. I've tossed the fabric into the washer and dryer and have meantime cut out a mockup from tea-colored muslin. Which I love and think I may have to get all future muslin in tea color rather than natural or bleached white. But dots have been marked and some of the darts have been pinned, and tomorrow (maybe) I will start sewing the mockup to see how well it actually works, and how drastic of fitting alterations I may need to make, as it has somewhat of a reputation for being a tempermental pattern despite its simplicity and popularity.
For now, though, zzzs.
