May. 13th, 2004 10:53 amHee. Have managed to color-match and order wig extensions for to make bangs out of!
Ponderable: Aside from the "dead lesbian girlfriends" (and, yes, that does sound like a femme punk band name) trend in GW fanfiction, there's another trend, which I like to call the "hidden talents" trend. After the war someone (usually Duo, but not always) ends up as an artist or a craftsman or plays a guitar or sings. I'm kind of tempted to do a series mocking this....

May. 13th, 2004 04:35 pmProgress report: cardgirl hearts need to be resewn. More carefully this time. Under-bust bodice fits perfectly, which is bad because there needs to be a gap in the center back. So I'll slice the seam allowances off the center back. Merrywidow (what is the difference between a merrywidow and a bustier anyway?) mockup is cut out, but I am going first to obtain a couple pairs of satin ballet slippers and some dye.
Odd dreams that involved characters from The Road to El Dorado. And then later some high fantasy thing which had me shapeshifting back and forth from giant hawk form, battling the forces of evil with my husband and the bird king.

Whee! Ficcy update!
May. 13th, 2004 05:40 pmI've (finally) html'ized and posted the newest chapter for "Reality Storm," my GW/Samurai Troopers crossover. If anyone's interested, you can read it here.

May. 13th, 2004 08:47 pmThere are two herbs past experience has shown that I apparently cannot grow. Dill and cilantro. Anyone have any handy tips or tricks for dealing with these two?
My grandmother is now living in a nursing home, in a ward for those with Alzheimer's or senior dementia. My mother and I went through a couple of the drawers in one of her bureaus today. We found a lot of pictures (in some of them, compared to photographs of myself at the same age, my mom and I could be identical twins) and old letters. We found stamps and coins. We found lingerie in wonderful condition that we estimate was from the '40s. Some of it had us wishing we could wear it. (My grandmother, at her tallest, was 8" shorter than I am. My mother, while similarly short, is pleasantly plump.) On the suggestion of my husband, I intend to at least photograph some of the pieces for design ideas. We also found a ton of nice handkerchiefs and pretty scarves. And we found old leather gloves. I have never in my life wished so badly that my hands were petite.
