OOC - Out Of Con
Jun. 23rd, 2003 10:17 amCon is over, con is done. And there was much rejoicing. (Huzzah.) I've already signed up to work ConOps next year. I think it somehow ironic that despite working the con I actually *attended* more of it than I do with cons I don't. I got to go to panels, to signings, to spend time with friends, to wander around in costume (he didn't catch me as Ovelia, but me as Sumomo should be up on Fansview somewhere on one of the Sunday pages) and to watch some new anime.
Half of the breakdown I've been anticipating caught me last night at the staff after-con party. It was at a pizzaria, and it was loud and crowded and full of people I didn't know. I bolted outside and had a five-minute panic attack. I know this is only half of the breakdown because I can feel the rest of the tension still looming somewhere. A twenty-minute panic attack would've taken care of all of it, but ah well. Part of it was that Fanime has this lovely habit of hiring masseusers (sp?) for the con and staffers each get a ten-minute massage for free. So Angie and Mel and I went to get massages yesterday. It was vastly amusing watching the two of them melt. But when it came my turn... it was a stranger's hands on my body. Some of it tickled and some of it hurt and I honestly felt no more relaxed or less tense when he was done.
I get get over the attack and go back in the restaurant, of course. Sadamoto was giving out sketches, and gave me one from FLCL--it was so loud that I couldn't ask him for one from .hack//SIGN instead. ;_; I don't like FLCL. Maybe Douglas does? Jeanne and Sionna and I left rather quickly because of my discomfort with the crowds and came back to Jeanne's apartment where she we had a pyjama party and watched anime. She showed us the _I'll_ OVA as well as the first episodes of _Get Backers_ and _E'S_. When she and Shi awaken, we're supposed to also be shown the first ep of _Spiral_. Oh! I won two lovely pieces of art in the art show! A pink Asian dragon crawling up a blooming branch of cherry blossoms and a golden Western dragon curled around a pumpkin. The artist's site is http://www.jadehorsestudio.com -- I must check out more of her stuff.
