Aug. 10th, 2004 10:43 pmFrom yesterday: got into my car after work. Noticed there was a big wood spider busily making a web on the outside of my windshield. Figured once I got going home the critter would blow off. This, however, was an incorrect guess. The spider managed to stay on my car for seventeen miles, about half of it at ~80mph. It managed this by scuttling over to take advantage of the wind shelter offered by the mirror. As much as I admire tenacity, I called my husband to meet me in the garage with a rolled-up newspaper.
Did I ever mention I'm an arachnophobe? I can stand daddy-long-legs and don't go around squishing garden spiders and such (though I will scream like a girl if they get on me), but I do not like spiders.
Karmic-ly, this means my kids will want tarantulas for pets.
