As I sit here, tying off thread ends and burying them in seams, I reflect on the YYH fanfiction I've read over the past few days, much of it bad. It's not that I think I am a great writer, but I am good. Similarly, I am not a great costumer, but I am good. I'm one of those people who got lots of "B"s in school with a steady sprinkling of "A"s. All of which puts me in mind of a Miles quote: "Occasionally I leap up into the blinding light of competence. It's sustaining the altitude that defeats me."

Ah, yes. That's an excellent Miles quote, one that is perhaps sometimes overlooked. I like it a lot, though, and it reminds me of my own work as well.
