I keep reading my friends talking about fandom wanks and hate lists and such and just don't get it. Maybe I'm just not a part of any fandoms these days? I'm not on MLs or LJs for any series, I very rarely read FF.net... heck, I'm barely part of the cosplay community. I geek about stuff with my friends, but that's about it.

Maybe I'm just too old to want to deal with it all. :)

You're not missing much. I tend to glance at the various snarky LJs early on in their lifespan, then soon start to find them tedious and wander off again. In general, I've sort of fallen out of active participation in my fandoms, although somehow I manage to pick up a lot of the highlights. (I haven't really got a lot of sparkly fandom interests going on at the moment anyway; I kind of miss it. :( )
