Jun. 13th, 2004 07:43 pmMade two apple pies (having discovered we had enough apples for that many) at home, went over to parents', popped them into oven to cook while we ate Mama-san's lasagna. They turned out well. Think I'm going to keep Wonderful Husband's family's tradition of carving smiley faces for the ventilation slits. It freaked my mother out. ^.^ This has renewed my love of pie-making. My brain now wants me to buy some peaches and let them ripen in a paper bag. By the time they're ripe, it reasons, the apple pies will be gone....
Mama-san also has a volunteer tomato plant on the side of her house, in the same space where I've had tomato plants for several years now. I went out to look at it. Went back inside. "Mom, did you know you've got about a dozen ripe tomatoes hiding in the tall grass?" She picks and uses 'em, but had missed those. ^^
