Well, I'l try it, because I have little respect for tradition. I bet there's going to be a new category of "natural" fugu for those who like the traditional style- at an even higher price. Kind of like Kobe beef that can kill you.
IIRC, part of the "flavor" of fugu came from poison residue that gave a tingling sensation. Now that's scary.
