sakon76Mwahahahah. Was up until late last night working my way through Weissfic. Specifically a 33-chapter Schuldig/Crawford/Ran story which had its share of melodrama but was actually quite palatable. If it hadn't been, I wouldn't've stayed up to finish it. ^^
Then I actually obeyed my alarm this morning and got up! Though I suspect the time change this weekend is going to screw with that. Alas.
As I've been sewing down the fleur de lis on the Ovelia dress (only five more to go!) I've been rewatching my way through Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. My copy of disc seven, however, appears to have a flaw in it. Namely, when playing the last episode it keeps skipping forward. I have it in my backpack and will be stopping by my parents' after class to see if it's just my player (which hasn't had problems with any other discs) or if it's the disc itself. If it is the disc, I'll then be going over to DVDPlanet to see about exchanging it. But when I ran into this snag rather than proceeding on to disc eight I popped in the OVAs. I'd forgotten how nice the art is. I also now realize that the Gaiden director's ideas of Los Angeles geography are *shitty*. They show the shrine procession of Little Tokyo going past Mann's Chinese theater. Which is not even in the same CITY. It's half an hour away by *car*, let alone by foot. So now I have to wonder if the NYC geography is similarly screwy. There was also half a minute's twitching at seeing the Twin Towers in the BG just before the plane crash. Fortunately the plane made a water landing, but....
Also, Shin's plaid pants. *twitch*twitch*twitch*
Kikouteiden was also fun to rewatch. Ahh, the moments of blazing stupidity... yelling "Abunai!" *after* the building's crashed on top of you... Seiji's amazing ability to point out the obvious, as in "He caught Tenkuu's arrow and threw it back!" (Incidentally, I am NOT impressed by the translation. There were lines where the subtitles were making me twitch. Add to which that Gaiden spelt the girl's name "Runa" not "Luna"... grr.) But it was really nice to see the "kokoro hitotsu ni" scene, as well as Shin's pacifism (I still find it really amusing that Sasaki Nozomu went from playing Shin to playing Yuusuke) and his getting new powers (teleportation, healing). I'm still trying to figure out where the Kikoutei armors *came* from [must bug Melinda when she's back from Japan]. Plus Shi is so right. In the TV series whenever they summon Kikoutei the other four just stand around in underarmor, which is plain *stupid*. Hello, targets? In the OVAs the five of them become one body in the armor.
The virtues are theirs, the armors are separate but linked? I feel the need to explore this in fanfic, though right now it'd be a remarkably *static* fanfic. Unfortunately Reality Storm is set pre-OVAs so I can't do that exploration there.
