Yet another 3-hour blood glucose test this morning, because one doctor got it into her head that the reason I have large babies is because I am pre-diabetic, diabetic, or have gestational diabetes. Couldn't have anything at all to do with me being 5'8" (and at that, shorter than both my MIL and SIL), Wonderful Husband being 6'1" and both of our fathers being 6'2". No, it has to be because of diabetes.

(Add to which that Jazzy's due date is nine days away, and I'm like, really? Is this necessary at this late juncture?)

But whatever. I did the blood test, and am expecting it to say the same thing as the last one. And at least the waiting room was showing a good movie today - Stand By Me. The time I got stuck there watching The Little Rascals remake was something close to purgatory. This, not so bad.

ETA: Oh, look, the results are back already and every single one is well within the normal range! Cue Gilbert Gottfried's Iago monologue about being ready to have a heart attack and die of not-surprise.

Hang on in there. Look at it as enforced relaxation :) Mx

Remakes are rarely good - haven't seen the Little Rascals one, so can't agree or disagree with you.
However, I did grow up with the original Little Rascals (taped reruns actually, a handful of VHS, never live nor first showing), and enjoyed the antics the kids got into.
Those who say B/W movies are bad, either haven't seen any classics, or were introduced to black-and-white films that were wrong for their age group. (i.e. Gene Kelly's movies are wonderful, but if I'd sat through them as a kid, I'd think all B/W movies were boring).

Well, one benefit to having yet another Blood Glucose Test, is that there are medical records that will say you are NOT predisposed to diabetes, nor suffer from gestational diabetes.
(Well, not with Jazzy - couple years down the line, might change - but sounds like you're working hard at staying healthy, eating right and balanced meals; and training children to enjoy nutritional, fresh food, which will help them all their life).
Though, the test just a week before newest member of the family makes first appearance might be a bit drastic. Oh well, doctors try to help.

Eh, I actually am genetically predisposed to adult-onset diabetes - one of my parents has it, as did one of my late grandparents. So I don't mind the occasional test/reminder/nudge to exercise more and lose weight. It's just when I think the doctor is being particularly bullheaded that it ticks me off. Fortunately, this was a specialist doctor that I won't have to see again.

Sorry, I Meant pre-diabetic. NOT predisposed adult-onset.
Honestly, I should stop assuming that just cause someone doesn't have whatever-illness or random-hormone/chemical-imbalance, doesn't mean they will always be safe from same illness or similar-potential life-shortening hazard.
I should probably keen an eye on my weight and exercise/activity level. A few of my aunts have diabetes, so there is a strong possibility if I get overweight, I will develop insulin regulating trouble. Seeing as I don't like needle pricks, avoiding diabetes, is something that needs to be done.

Who doesn't have trouble will bullheaded people?
With a specialized doctor, it's both easier and harder to avoid ... easier cause unless it's blood-glucose tests, DR won't be called to consult. Harder, cause when specialized tests are needed in this area, he might be the only one with the authority to diagnose.

Well, yay for the confirmation that all is well, even if the testing was maybe a bit overkill. Nine days, woot! :D
