The Inconstant Consonant
Aug. 13th, 2016 08:14 amEver since Squiddle started learning to speak (a year and a half ago now - his first words were in February 2015 and were "nana" (banana) and "tea!"), I have been "Muy." Wonderful Husband has been "Da-e." A while ago, Wonderful Husband started getting the occasional "Da-de." But it has taken until this week for me to become "Mum-ME." :)
(We theorize the polysyllabic stumbling block is also why he counts one-two-three-four-five-six-eight-nine-ten. Because seven is two syllables.)
Also amusing - last weekend we had my parents up for dinner. At some point Squiddle looked around the table, realized Mummy was the only one not wearing glasses, and found this distressing. How to explain diversity to a two-year-old? "Some people need glasses. Some people don't. And both are just fine." may take a while to sink in.
