Baby Prep

I spent part of yesterday putting the bassinet back together next to our bed. Hard to believe Squiddle ever fit into it.

An odd part of prepping for child #2, particularly given that they're both boys, is not so much what do we need for the baby as what do we need for the toddler? Because knowing that we were always planning on having a second child, we kept all the stuff from the first child. We have the baby clothes, the swaddling blankets, the bassinet, the infant car seat is still within its "use by" date....

Squiddle, on the other hand, is about to be graduated from his high chair to a booster seat at the table. ETC. For which the tricky part is going to be doing it before baby brother arrives, so he doesn't connect the two and feel like Jazzy is stealing his stuff.

And, in case I want to remember this later, during both pregnancies, especially after the bleeds I had with Squiddle, there's been something I've whispered to my boys each night: "Night-night, little baby. Stay happy, stay healthy, stay alive, stay inside. Your daddy and I love you very much, and want you very much, and can't wait to meet you in September. Love you. Sleep well. Good night."

Ah, yes, the fun of graduating the toddler to new things. I took my kids to Target to get a new bowl/plate/cup combo as a bribe for moving to the booster seat, and that worked pretty well. Have fun, and may you make it to the end with both you and Jazzy in good health.
