Pool Party

Yesterday, we went to my uncle's annual Fourth of July pool party. I baked an apple pie and a mixed-berry pie, both of which seemed to go across well. Squiddle enjoyed the pool, after it quieted a little and he got used to the idea. Took a turn around it in Mummy's arms (Mummy being in a sundress, since her swimsuit no longer fits due to her being 31 weeks pregnant), then later insisted on going in again, this time with Grandpa.
(We brought towels with us and changes of clothing and blankets to wrap ourselves in to watch fireworks and in general were actually 100% spot-on prepared this year.)
Squiddle was not at all startled by the fireworks, or "pop-pops" as he calls them. This is maybe due to living not too far from Disneyland? His in-utero baby brother, OTOH, was definitely not copacetic with the sudden loud noises. But other than three mishaps (one exploding dud, one that tipped over pointing into the street, and one that tipped over pointing at us the audience), it all went well. No injuries were incurred, no property damage done. Thank god! The interesting points were someone down the street launching a few fire lanterns (ala Tangled), and Squiddle getting his first glowsticks, which he loved.
Oh, and this year my uncle's party was somewhat larger than usual, due to some neighbors being invited. Including a clan of five mostly red-headed teenage boys from next door. Three older singles, and then a set of (fraternal) twins... Wonderful Husband and I dubbed them the Weasleys and tried to decide which was Bill and which was Charlie. :)
