Title: The Serpent's Shadow
Author: Mercedes Lackey
Length: 394 pages
Another from that collection of Lackey books I picked up at CoCo. Set about a hundred years ago in England, this volume combines the Snow White fairy tale with Indian mythology, and blatantly deals with the sexism and racism inherent to that time and place.
I liked the main character, and the book was a good, easy read, but it didn't quite "grip" me the way some of the others have. Though it does make me want to go reread some of the others in the series, to review how characters from this book appeared in those, and trace their evolution.
Verdict: Recommended.
I'm probably jinxing myself here, but only fourteen more to go, and then this year, for the first time ever, I'll actually have made my fifty books in a year reading goal. *knocks on wood*
