*Victory Dance*
Jan. 6th, 2019 12:00 amHaha, just finished writing the last chapter of Shadowlands. It clocks in at 3,491 words right now, pending editing. It's almost twice the length of any of the other chapters, so I will need to consider whether or not it should be two chapters. And I got in all the stuff I had long planned for it, and some stuff came up that, WHAT?! Where did this come from? Because this is such good stuff! I just wish I could claim that *I* had planned it and not the story itself. Because it hearkens back to things in other chapters and, wow....
In other words, GOD I'VE MISSED WRITING AND ALL ITS WACKINESS.
Bed now. Editing later.

Challenge Accepted
Dec. 31st, 2018 09:05 amThere's a meme which occasionally goes around my tumblr which details the motivations for one's actions, an overwhelming percentage of which is spite.
A couple days ago I got an anonymous comment from ff.net on my RotG fic "Shadowlands." Which is one chapter from completion and has been so since Christmas 2014. (Yes, four years. I have two little boys; stringing narrative sentences together is hard with energetic distractions under 4'.)
The comment concluded "even tho, ya know, this is never getting updated ever again and whatever".
...
O NO U DIDN'T.
The gauntlet has been thrown.
Challenge accepted, bitch.
387 words, or roughly a fifth of the chapter, written last night.
Spite is indeed a powerful motivator.

And Christmas Day story #3. Originally After The Ice was a one-shot. But then this came to me, and I have at least one more scene in my head before I decide whether I want to go the yaoi route or not.

[rd][fic][RotG][HTTYD] Always With You
Aug. 24th, 2013 09:30 pmPoking around the Intarwebz this morning, I found this piece of RotG/HTTYD fanart, and somehow it inspired fanfic....

AU plotbunny popped into my head on the drive in to work this morning. And since it's been slo-o-ow this morning, it got written. No idea if this is a oneshot, or if it's going to get more later.

So this is the chapter I was working on Monday evening... and, yes, very obviously a part one of at least two.

Not the fic I was working on yesterday. But I remembered this one had been languishing, mostly done, for rather a long time, and took a hard look at it. I think I managed to fix most of the reasons I'd never posted it, but if anyone cares to give me feedback as to if it works, and why or why not, I'd be appreciative.
