Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

Almost got the sewing project finished in one weekend. Almost. The problem is that there's a topstitching step in there, and I ran out of thread the right color and don't have anything else close enough to match. But I did everything but that topstitching on Maggie. I would've done the topstitching on her too, but I only have three bobbins for her and they're all full. Must get some more long bobbins.

Went to see Harry Potter 8 today. A good conclusion to the series. I was crying in appropriate locations and, like everyone else, making mental notes of "ooh, this is different from the novel... but I kind of like it this way too." SO GLAD they kept Molly vs. Bellatrix verbatim to the book because that was honestly one of my favorite moments from the novel. Am amused to note that three weeks after its release the theater was still packed. People were lining up for sold out showings of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and, surprisingly to me at least, The Smurfs.

Waiting for the oven to ping at me so I can put the quiche in. Harvested a good lot of tomatoes, jalepenos, and the first habeneros today... debating between canning the tomatoes, or making salsa with them. Suspecting that salsa will win out due to less things to wash afterwards.

Inlaws have booked their flights and will be joining Wonderful Husband and I and my family for Christmas this year. Not going to stress! (Yet.) Still, maybe time to start talking with my mother about who's going to host Christmas this year....

The Art of Running Behind

I have my car back, which is something of a relief, since while my parents' "spare" car is definitely not bad (much nicer than mine, in fact), it's also a bit too big for me.

Inlaws are going back to England tonight, and Wonderful Husband and I depart to Fanime at roughly the same time. Of the three sewing projects I had on my slate, one got finished, one didn't (just as well; we maxed out luggage room and weight; I'll finish it later and ship it to its recipient), and the Transformers dress for Botcon next weekend is getting dropped. I just haven't had the time to get everything done. At least Wonderful Husband was able to get the ConOps cookies baked this year....

Still undead.

Friday night: seeing Cirque du Soleil for the first time, performing Quidam. Waaaaah....

Saturday: general laundry and dishes stuff, along with finishing up more floof to Kirari's petticoat.

Sunday: RenFaire for about 4 hours with husband and inlaws. I love knowing that every single stitch I have on was made by myself. Need to do a new bodice for next year, though.

Today: Getting a call from [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage, asking if we can move WorldCon costume plans up to AX, and only later going online and finding out why. Still panicking. Will have no social life for the next yay many months.

'Laters, y'all.

Wai!

Y'know, I am an idiot.

This comment is sparked by the fact that for some reason I thought the SoCal RenFaire didn't start until /next/ weekend and thus I would not be able to drag my in-laws out to it. (AFAIK they don't have 'Faires in the UK though I do know there are various historical reenactment groups and of course the SCA.)

Today, while skimming through the paper at work for interesting articles, I came across a half-off coupon for the 'Faire. They only offer those opening weekend.

Now to oh-so-casually ask my in-laws tonight if they'd be interested.... *eg*

The State of the K-chan

Not updating much this week (or next) because I have in-laws visiting, which is neat. Tomorrow night we're going to see Cirque du Soleil. I've never seen Cirque before, so I'm rather looking forward to it.

Got approved for my panel for Fanime. Yay!

Happy "You Can Believe Some Things You Read On The Internet Again" Day!

Well, made it through April 1st without being pranked. Achieving an annual goal is always nice.

My in-laws have arrived from the UK along with ~40 members of my father-in-law's green bowling club, and this morning Wonderful Husband and I are helping to ferry everyone up to the Orange County Mining Company (a restaurant and former employer of mine) for a brunch at noon. The house is like scarily clean at the moment. I spent part of Friday evening thoroughly cleaning the bath-and-a-half. Repeat with me: "eww, ick, eww, ick!" Cleaning bathrooms was always my least-favorite chore. But it's done, so yay. Even if I ripped two nails down to the base in the process.

And now to go make Wonderful Husband get up and mobile and dressed and all the other things which are prerequisites to going out to brunch.
