One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

My main hobbything at the moment is quilting. I'm finishing up another quilt for the Squiddle, who is not old enough to know or care, but thus also not big enough to notice how bad things turn out. And on the surface, it seems like quiltmaking is a pretty simple thing. Sew fabrics together in a pleasing pattern, layer with a backing and a batting, stitch layers together, and sew on binding. Voila.

Except then you hit the frustrations of things like "I'm using a walking foot, this is all cottons, why is it rippling?" Sometimes I swear I oughta just give up all my fabric altogether, because as many things as I've mastered, I often just don't get it.

But nonetheless, the "baby rainbows" quilt is now complete and just needs a run through the washer/drier before being given to Squiddle. It's three weeks to his first birthday. Should I count this as his birthday present?

yup, i think that will be a very nice birthday present - dont forget to wrap it up though! actually, if you wrap it up he will probably play with the wrapping paper more than the quilt :P me xx
