Saturday - Day of the Satyrs?
Nov. 16th, 2013 10:39 pmToday was my dad's birthday, so, after a little discussion of whether or not we/Squiddle would be able to handle it, my parents, Wonderful Husband and I, and Squiddle went to Lucille's for dinner. Yum! Squiddle slept through the entire thing. Literally. He was asleep before we put him in the car seat, and didn't wake until we were all leaving the restaurant. So in that sense, he was very good, though he was quite brattish earlier, resulting in neither WH nor myself getting much done today. My inlaws are arriving on Monday. Must clean all the things! :)
Earlier in the day, I had taken Squiddle with me to an estate sale (got nothing) in his Baby Bjorn, and then stopped at Goodwill on the way home, to assess its suitability for getting baby clothes there. (Verdict: pass. All the kids' clothes, from infant to age ten, were on the same rack. Too much hassle when there are two other thrift shops close by that separate things out much better.) There was a point at which Wonderful Husband was wary of thrift stores, but over the last nine years he's come to somewhat appreciate the cost savings. To paraphrase from Louisa May Alcott's An Old-Fashioned Girl - I've worn thrift store clothing all my life and it doesn't seem to have alienated my friends or injured my constitution. And, really, baby clothing is something that gets worn maybe a dozen times before being outgrown. It doesn't make sense to pay $15 new for an item that may cost $3 or less used.
And tonight, for the first time, Wonderful Husband gave Squiddle his shower and I did the drying/diapering/dressing afterward. WH installed a new showerhead last night, one which transitions from stationary to handheld, so this may have made the task easier. Off to investigate via my own shower!
