I think I can finish the fabric winnowing today. And I think I can make my goal of only the top three shelves.

I am somewhat impressed with my subconscious. Back at the point when I was still thinking I could go to Costume College, I was planning out a bright pink silk bodiced Regency petticoat to be worn under a gown of a partially-sheer linen/cotton blend I have where the "sheer" bits are actually the shapes of butterflies. Except, I didn't think I actually had the bright pink silk for the petticoat.

Guess what I pulled down from the top shelf this morning? Yards of lightweight pink silk taffeta! :)

About half of my flannel has gone in the donation stack, as has all of my raw silk, since I looked at it, and, realistically, I'm never going to make it up into anything. The texture of it just bugs me too much. Just a little more sorting and organizing, and I'll be ready to be putting things back in order. Then I get to start on the patterns.

Meanwhile, other people are heading to BotCon! I hope they take the good time I was planning to have there, and divide it amongst themselves and have extra good times!

Hey, I like raw silk! Have you already gotten rid of it?

Nope, it's in the back bedroom. I have many yards in several shades ranging from more garish to less garish. Royal purple, hot pink, hotter pink, turquoise blue, a slightly greener more subdued turquoise, burgundy red, salmon pink, an orange pretty close to the actual color of salmon flesh, true blue, neon green, and sage green. Do any colors in particular appeal?

(And, just to make sure we're thinking of the same thing, it's a roughish textured fabric, yes?)

Yeah, soft and heavy with a kind of a nubbly texture. It's what we used for [livejournal.com profile] darthsatyr's wedding garb. I'd definitely be interested in the royal purple, the burgundy, the bright turquoise, and the sage green, possibly the true blue - are you talking like a jewel-tone blue?

...I like bright colors. Can you tell? ^_^

burgundy: two pieces, one ~7.5 yards, the other ~8 yards, both 58" wide
sage green: two pieces, one ~5 yards, the other ~6.25 yards, both 58" wide
purple: ~3.5 yards, 58" wide
sapphire/true blue: two pieces, one ~3.667 yards, the other ~.667 yards, both 45" wide
bright blue turquoise: ~2.25 yards, 45" wide

And I also found a blue-purple, ~2.25 yards, 45" wide, if that was one you would want.

Blue-purple does sound good, too. Pretties!
(Not that I actually have any specific projects for this stuff at the moment, though the true blue miiiight work for my Halloween costume... but I find that raw silk is the sort of thing that does eventually get used.)

Okay, I'll box it all up and hit the UPS store after work sometime this week. I have other packages to mail to you and [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage anyway. As a warning, this'll be a bit of bulky. :) Are you okay with paying the shipping, and/or shall I give you a call when I'm at UPS and give you the cost/time options?

I can definitely pay for the shipping - wouldn't ask you to cover that! I'll email you my cell number.

Re. the bulk - would it help to put it into a spacebag and vacuum all the air out? That won't help with the weight of course, but it does make it smaller.
