Finally bit the bullet and told my coworkers. They were enthusiastic. The highly religous coworker, however, made me very uncomfortable by praying over me and saying that she just knew it would be a healthy, strong baby to serve the Lord.

I do not mind other people being religous. Some of the best people I know are. I do mind, however, when someone else's faith is forced on me. But I was polite and bit my tongue and didn't say any of the myriad things that I wanted to. Analogies to kicking a puppy, for instance, come to mind....

Also, in probably a case of my seamstress' bias showing, over the weekend I went to Macy's because my mother had told me they were having a maternity clothing sale. To put it mildly, I was appalled at the offerings. Ugly, made of cheap fabric, definitely not designed to make pregnant women look or feel beautiful or appealing.... The only interesting things I saw in the store were a name-brand designer skirt and blouse, not on sale, not in the maternity section, and not in my budget. $120 for a skirt and $50 for a blouse is ludicrous!

Also, if anyone on my flist in the Bay Area is interested, I'll be up in the Walnut Creek neck of the woods on Saturday during the day. I'm driving up with my parents Friday afternoon, so unfortunately I won't have my own transportation, though.

...be a healthy, strong baby to serve the Lord.

Geez, assumption much? >,> That's even more grating than when I hear someone say that so-and-so is (or "must be") a good Christian person (assuming it about someone they /don't/ know, like commenting on someone on the news or something). As if you can't be good unless you're Christian, or that all Christian people are good. Why can't people just be good /people/? ...okay, so that was more off-topic than it sounded in my head. >,o Anyway... Yeah, I think I'd have had a hard time biting my tongue . . . even back when /I/ was Christian. Good for you not saying anything. I'm sure it wouldn't have ended well. =/

And . . . yeah, don't think I've EVER seen flattering maternity clothes. Though . . . I guess I can kind of see the "made of cheap fabric" part - why spend much on something you're literally only going to wear for maybe a month or few months? But yeah, the ugly and unflattering is unacceptable.

Safe trip and HAVE FUN

Correct response: "Oh gosh, you're sweet for the Jesus thing, but we've already pledged this baby to Cthulu. You see, he's going to grow up to serve the Old Ones. I know, I know, some people disagree with committing someone else's soul to a deity they have no choice in picking, but you know what they say. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn."

I survived on JCPenney's maternity line... the name of which escapes me atm - DUO maternity, I think?

And once I had some sizes known, eBay for Motherwear (mainly nursing tops & dresses), but I think they make maternity clothing as well. Also Craigslist.

And Motherhood Maternity makes nice items, I'd go into a store to figure out your size in their stuff (I seem to recall it ran a bit small), then eBay/CL it.

But yeah, Macy's didn't do much for me either.
