So my uncle on my dad's side does genealogical research. And just this week has e-mailed my dad a few interesting nuggets.

Under the category "things that would have been really useful to know when I was a high school senior researching college scolarships": I am a great(^9)-granddaughter of Mary Allerton. And through the Allerton lineage, I'm apparently a fifth cousin several times removed of FDR, which just brings to mind the above subject line from the movie Spaceballs. I also apparently qualify to join DAR.

All things which are interesting for me to know, give history slightly more interest for myself, and are, ultimately, useless in real life. But, hey, at least this time Uncle Scott's research drew up non-traumatic facts!
