Wonderful Husband and I went to Las Vegas over this last weekend. It's been, mm, seven-eight years since we were last there, and it is worlds away better than it used to be. The casinos we wandered through uniformly did not reek of cigarette smoke. Hallelujah!

We did get suckered into attending a time-share presentation by Wyndham; we thought their offerings looked pretty and sounded interesting, but when it comes down to it, we are not the type of people who would get much out of what they have to offer. We are not resortists.

We stayed at the Flamingo, which was okay (lovely view of the roof), but we don't go on vacations for the hotel rooms! Using the vouchers we got from Wyndham, we went on the indoor gondola at the Venetian, and also toured Madame Toussaud's, which was kind of creepy. The wax figures were varying degrees of realistic. We caught the Sirens of TI show at Treasure Island (so, so campy... even more so than I remembered it) and a bit of the volcano show at the Mirage. We kept managing to miss the fountains at the Bellagio, though, alas! The main reason we went to Vegas, of course, was to see Cirque du Soleil's "O" at the Bellagio. Which was the best Cirque show we've ever seen! The other three (all good unto themselves) were touring shows; having a permanent stage makes a difference.

Yesterday we met up with [livejournal.com profile] tainry, went to the buffet at the Luxor for brunch, and then headed out to Hoover Dam, where we did the full tour. It was really neat! (Many Transformers references were made.) We also walked halfway across the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, just downstream of the dam, and admired the view from there. The bridge is new since the last time we were there, and I am so, so grateful that they actually made it pretty to look at. Fantastic pieces of construction, both the dam and the bridge!

After dinner back in Las Vegas at KGB Burgers in Harrah's, doing a little bit of slots (I ended the weekend down $3.75) and dropping [livejournal.com profile] tainry back at her hotel, Wonderful Husband and I headed home, arriving five minutes shy of midnight. Today we are achey (particularly me, in my calves; I am back to stumping around) but overall pleased with the experience.

Ooo, the Flamingo was where I stayed the last time I was there! That was earlish 2010, I think. Before Grandma and Mom died, but not that long before. And I love the Sirens show. I wish I could get a copy of the song... XD

Sounds like you had a blast! Haven't been there in a few years, but got to enjoy the, Blue Men Group, when I did go with my mom for a girls weekend :)

On a side note:
Thought I would let you know that me and my partner are head for the 37th Archon convention over in ST Louis, MO, second weekend of October. We are representing the TF community, as we saw no sign of any last year, as humanized Cybertronians. We are taking hints from your series: Harder Better Faster Stronger. I'm going to do Jazz the first day as a street informer/vigilante (ex military come home finding the neighbor hood needs rescuing), and she is doing Prowl as a vice detective. On the second day we are doing Starscream and Skywarp as business executives, and I mean full suits minus jackets due to small set of wings. Third day we're just doing BDUs and t shirts with both factions emblems.
Your fic is a major influence on these costumes and I'll post pics later if ya like.
Any chance your muse will let ya give us a new chapter for HBFS? Please?
