Berbils!

Okay, I admit that the Robearberbils completely charmed me. Yay throwbacks and shoutouts to the original series! But beyond their cute cuddliness, this was actually not a good episode. Why?

To start with, internal consistency. If Panthro can't even fix his own tank, why is he suddenly a miracle surgeon as far as the robot bears are concerned? It's kind of explained by the Thundertank's engine being old and getting replaced during the episode, but it's still a bit of a stretch. (I still want the story of how he acquired said tank....)

And as a second concern, despite the fun-ness of the various traps and weapons the bears built to defend their village, they were ultimately ineffectual and without the Thundercats they would have been enslaved. And, really, the slavers are not going to change their tune. So maybe not a week after the 'Cats have left, maybe not a month, but someday the slavers are going to come back and the silly cute kid-appealing weapons aren't going to be enough.

Still, this gives me hope the Warrior Maidens may show up eventually....

Eeheehee! I like these Berbils! My 17-yr-old self found them annoying back in the day, but I kinda like 'em now. Both the old and the new. I like the new in that we get a little more feel for their culture with the fantastic backgrounds, and just the way they move. The episodes might be shorter but the pacing is faster, and this new crew knows how to get telling little details into the nooks and crannies. Also; cute, small, easily underestimated things with unexpected mad skillz.

The Wileys on candyfruit... XD
Tygra and Cheetara looked pretty cozy there under the mushroom. Much to Lion-O's annoyance.
No Tygra helping with the tank? Awww. Maybe Tygra figures he's got a gift for fine detail electronics like hooking the Book up, but not the heavy sweat-work of fixing a broken drive-train? Or maybe Panthro won't let him play with it any more after the Book thing. XD
The internal inconsistency, yeah...I was worried about Panthro getting in there working on Bob, too. Ack! Don't tug on that, you never know what it might be attached to!
Having been watching the old toon primed me for another shout-out - SNOW MEOW! I LOL'd! GO GET 'EM SNOW MEOW!!! Niiiice kitty. <333333
Had the same thought re the Berbils and the Conquistadores. =_= The Tcats ought to hook the Berbils up with more warlike neighbors or something. Because even if the kid-friendly toy weapons were effective, the Berbils themselves don't exactly have a militaristic mindset.
And if they did, they could easily become a hegemonizing swarm. O.O Which would be an interesting bunny for someone more inclined to darkfic. Like not me. ;D

I agree - WARRIOR MAIDENS DO WANT!
I...might have started working on a "Tygra and Nayda are Friends (With Benefits)" oldschool fic...::cough::

I like to think of the Tundertank like a really old workhorse car. Works great for ages and ages but finally time gets the better of it, and no amount of jury-rigging and patchwork will help, if at all. There comes a point when you either get a new car or completely refit the thing. Which Panthro, bless his curmudgeonly heart, really didn't have a way to do out there in the wilds with no discernable means of supply.

Lion-O's to-hell-with-it cheerful fumbling of the Berbils' name gave me a giggle.
