550 / Apples
Oct. 9th, 2011 06:14 pmJust got back from the gym. Skipped going on Friday (though Wonderful Husband went) due to feeling cruddy and my left elbow feeling like it was being knifed every time I bent it at a certain angle. Mostly the cruddy, though. Went to bed, trying to nap, while he was gone; failed. But am feeling better now.
This morning, as an experimental outing, we went to a few of the you-pick apple farms about 60 miles away. It was, sadly, an experience neither of us ended up very happy with. It was packed at all three of the farms, with hordes of kids running around and having meltdowns everywhere, horrendous parking issues, and, honestly, not very many apples left on the trees at the one we picked at. (And, contrary to their website claims, there weren't either raspberries or blackberries available either.)
That said, there are some apples on the counter as well as cider, a quart of honey, and a jar each of quince and gooseberry jam. We went exploring and breathed in some fresh mountain air or whatever. Whether we go to any you-picks next year... well, we shall see.
