Lion-O and the Temple of Doom

sakon76My theory of every other episode being a good one seems to be holding, because this was a good episode.
The far distant past story intrigues me. I want to know more about it. Mumm-Ra and Lion-O's and Tygra's ancestors were on the same side? And the ancient ThunderCats were conversant with technology? What happened?
I was so not expecting them to find the temple this soon. I was expecting this to be a decoy temple. I was, in fact, rather betting on the Book of Omens being in the Thunderkittens' mystical city of El Dora. The whole temple sequence was very Indy Jones-ish, though. With a touch of Goonies for the first trap. Note how each cast member (even Snarf!) got a moment to shine. I loveloveloved the Thunderkittens picking the lock. So not a skill set any of the rest of them would have! Panthro being unable to swim also charmed me. I was hoping for some kind of reference to cats hating water; I guess that's all I'm going to get. Wonderful Husband and I kept calling out the traps as we saw them. The light reflecting off the water, though, was very, very clever and I don't know where the show lifted it from. Anyone else know?
I'm also pleased that the show is actively keeping up the ambiguity of the Lion-O/Cheetara/Tygra threesome. Personally, I kind of hope she ends up with Tygra, because it'll mean he's grown up a little and gotten over himself to get there. (I loved Panthro's line about "Close your mouth. You're drooling.") Tygra was very clever, though, in his selective use of invisibility to slow down Mumm-Ra. Who was once again being very Emperor Palpatine-y with his judicious use of Force lightning.
Towards the end, when Lion-O did the "Thundercats, ho!" call, it was only Cheetara who did the glowy eyes and powerboost thing. I'm going to guess this is related to her being a cleric? I also have the feeling Jaga isn't entirely gone and will be around as needed, in the book crystal. And it's going to take some more adventures before they find whatever's needed to make the words in the book actually appear... wondering if they're going to run across any of their ally groups from G1 in the process. I vote for the Warrior Maidens!
