Power Tools, Sharp Blades, and Long Pins
May. 10th, 2011 11:00 amYappy dog in the apartments behind my workplace is once again being yappy. I am wishing to silence it, one way or another, by the power of my mind. Thus far I am resisting this urge.
Yesterday post-work I picked up the three sets of scissors I'd had sharpened. Anyone who thinks that sewing is a sweet, innocent, girly hobby really needs to reconsider. I work with power tools, razor sharp blades, and wicked long pins. I'd found my other pair of good Gingher scissors over the weekend, but didn't feel like driving ~30 miles roundtrip to have them sharpened with the rest; they can be honed some other time. My sewing desk has been cleaned off and dusted, as have the machines. I put a few more things away last night, lessening the stack on the floor, and mended two of Wonderful Husband's shirts. One more and a pair of trousers and I'm done with his stuff and can start on my pile (a dress, a skirt, a blouse, and a pair of trousers). Then I can start sewing again.
After cleaning out the catbox last night, I took its discarded contents out to the curb and discovered that someone had knocked over all three (trash, recycling, yard waste) of our bins. Jerk. Fortunately the spillage was minimal and easily dealt with.
And of course since I'd watered the garden yesterday it rained last night. Not much, to be sure. Still, maybe I should wash my car and leave it out in the driveway? Or perhaps finally get a solar dryer and leave laundry on the line? :)
