Only in SoCal / Fangasms
Mar. 4th, 2011 06:52 pmThings seen while driving around:
--on a weekend morning, driving north on Harbor past Disneyland, I spied a white car coming from the other direction. "Hmm, Porsche," I thought to myself. Then I noticed it not only had a pair of blue racing stripes, but also a central red one, and my eyes started to widen. And just as we passed one another--YES!! On the driver's door was a Martini racing logo! Someone, somewhere in SoCal, is driving a Porsche painted up as G1 Jazz.
--now, Tranformers sightings are not that rare around here: in addition to the Jazzmeister, I've seen a couple of Bayverse new-Camaro Bumblebees and a Bayverse old-Camaro Bumblebee. However, seeing a Nissan rally car done up in Smokescreen's colors makes me suspicious about my fandom stalking me. Its number is 28, not 38, otherwise I'd be way more creeped out/excited than I actually am.
--and, finally, venturing out of the realm of Transformers, it's somewhat bizarre to be sitting at a red light, waiting to turn left, and notice that the white minivan coming from the other direction is driven by none other than Captain Jack Sparrow. The rational part of my mind thinks things like "Oh, he's on his way to a costume party. Or maybe he's an impersonator, going to work a gig." The larger part of me, however, thinks "Of all the cars to boost, I would've thunk Jack Sparrow would hotwire something snazzier than a minivan!"

Captain Sparrow was... 15 miles south of Disneyland, and neither heading toward nor away. I also think the Mouse doesn't let character employees take their costumes home, so I doubt he works at the Kingdom. Still, a lovely moment of surreality. ^_^
