We Are A Hedge. Please Move Along.
Jan. 30th, 2011 08:06 pmThe rain decided to be off and on, so even though sun tea didn't end up happening, Wonderful Husband and I did clear that front bed. Unfortunately we discovered half a dozen resprouting patches of the crab/quack/devil/whatever grass. Peeking over the 3' high fence at our neighbor's driveway, I discovered why it's still alive: it's apparently thriving under the wall and in the cracks on his side. Which means that sometime this week I will be knocking at his door and asking if he minds if we kill it on his side too this time. Which will have to wait for next weekend and a hopefully sunny day, so there's no point in me going to the garden center to pick out roses for two more weeks. Que sera sera.
What did get done today: the garden got watered (first by me and then by the sky), lemons got harvested (and are covering the dining room table, drying off, and it hasn't even made a dent in the amount on the tree), I made salsa, we had dinner with my parents, I called
I have decided I'm not going skating again for a while, for two reasons. The first is that I am sick of ending the skating session chilled to the point of feeling ill. The rink is currently kept too cold for me; it will be better in summer. The second is that my skates still aren't shaped to my feet, and I am frustrated to the point of tears with the shop guys doing the oh-look-it's-a-chick-buying-a-car salesman thing of not listening to me or somehow thinking that I do not know what I am saying. I asked if they had arch supports because I could feel my arches collapsing and in pain while skating. He asked where it hurt. See previous sentence, moron! And, no, tightening my laces won't solve the problem because when I tighten the laces my foot goes numb because it's forcing my arch into an even more unnatural position. I ended up spending about twenty minutes crying. I had a very nice blond girl named Jessica even ask if she could pray for me. So I have been prayed over.
The not-really-funny thing? We dropped ~$200 on skates for me on the theory that they would hurt less than the rental skates.
Yeah right.
