Once again, I fail. Not unexpected, given that I've been taking up my day with domestic tasks, including finding the recipe for House of Blues' rosemary cornbread, and trial-running [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage's sweet potato biscuits. Which are very good but not especially tasting of sweet potato. Alas; one can't have everything. I also did minor repairs on two pairs of my work trousers, so hooray for more options again on my non-skirt days.

Like with old houses and linens, I love vintage jewelry. It's got a charm all its own. Which is why if I see a piece that speaks to me at a reasonable prince at an estate sale or thrift store, I buy it. Frequently there are flaws: missing gemstones or backs. And then there's the whole clip-on earring thing, which I've resisted until fairly recently. I have two pieces in each ear and vague memories of wearing clip-ons that hurt at some point in my childhood. But I've finally started acquiescing to buying them, and on the whole I'm glad. There are so many beautiful designs! Of the three pairs I acquired this weekend, one set had a fallen-out gem in its bag, so I've repaired it. It'll very nicely match one of my favorite vintage bracelets. The two other pairs are missing gems; I'll take them with me the next time I hit the fabric district and see if Bohemian Crystal can come up with any matches. Also need to find and attach a back to a brooch that's lost its pin. I love fixing old things and giving them new life; it also almost guarantees that no one will be wearing the same pieces I am.
