Haha! I have gotten through Ariss' choice and the aftermath. I have also determined that (refined, at least) sugar is a perfectly valid scrying medium for Kitty. Which is good since it's easier to carry around, use, and clean up to reuse later than syrup would be. And she's gotten in her first significant vision, which could be either of Ariss' choice... or something that will happen in the sequel. I'm leaving it ambiguous for now.
My only problem is that as Ariss announces her choice to the court, her speech is pretty much a monologue. I hope I've broken it up enough to be visually interesting and not just a "yawn, skim this" piece, but only later revision will tell for sure.
Up to page 138 now. Three major plot points left to hit. I'm hoping they're not going to feel like letdowns after this.
