So today Wonderful Husband and I picked up my very own pair of ice skates. Which had to be special ordered because I have fat feet and thick, muscular calves. :p Having them heat-moulded to me ("when the buzzer goes off, the skates are done") and the toes on the left one punched out a bit took about an hour. The public skating session at that time was rather crowded, so we decided to go to the one this evening instead.
Whereupon I discovered that the toes of the left skate needed more punching out and I need some sort of arch support on the right. Three times around the rink and I was literally crying by the time Wonderful Husband helped me hobble to the skate shop, it hurt that bad. They punched out the one skate more but were out of arch inserts, so basically at this point I'm skating in 10-15 minute blocks and then taking the skates entirely off until my feet recover. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I'm guessing the skates may be broken in by the time we leave them behind and go to England next month....
