Weekend Report!
Jul. 27th, 2010 09:48 pmSo, went to SDCC over the weekend. Actually did minimal purchases in the dealer's hall (the next couple volumes of Girl Genius; a "Baking is Science for Hungry People" t-shirt; some sketchbooks, a comic, and a set of art prints from Chris Sanders), had no luck whatsoever getting into Hall H for any of the big video stuff, but still had a fine and dandy time hitting some smaller panels and meeting up with friends. Got pictures of Wonderful Husband with Red Fraggle and with Kermit the roving reporter Frog. Talked a little with Brian and Wendy Froud (Dark Crystal). Talked a little with Dean DuBlois and Chris Sanders (writer/directors of Lilo & Stitch and How To Train Your Dragon). Am extremely pleased that my query to the latter pair resulted in a blinking almost double-take of "Huh. You know, I'd never thought about that." (Said query was: In L&S, Jumba says that Stitch will steal everyone's left shoe. In HTTYD, Gobber says that trolls steal your socks, but only the left ones. Was the latter a reference to the former? Answer given was that (1) Chris Sanders wrote both lines, and (2) that if it was, it was done subconsciously. But still gratifying to get that response, and I'm going to continue writing that fanfic anyway because it amuses me.)
Was very much still feeling all the weekend's walking yesterday; today was better so I gardened after work, which meant putting half a dozen San Marzano tomato plants in the ground as well as half a dozen ground cherries. There were a few cherries ripe on their bushes so Douglas and I sampled them. Interesting flavor. I also worked a little on putting other (bigger/older) tomatoes back in their cages and preventing the pumpkin plants from taking over the pathway. Tomorrow, hopefully, straw and pulling the dead jalepenos, only to replace them with the new/young ones.... Tonight, I need to start prep for Costume College embroidery class.
