Title: Living Dead In Dallas
Author: Charlaine Harris
Length: 291 pages
I have to admit it, the Sookie Stackhouse books aren't my favorite. The world built just seems too... flimsy, maybe is the right world, to me as a reader. Maybe it's the author's syntax or plotting or world-building, I don't know what. Plus the fact that her main character is just a bit of a Mary Sue. I wonder if the TV series based on these books is any better? Maybe I'd judge it less harshly because it's not in words....
Basically, these books are the vampire lit. version of potato chips. They're tasty while you're eating them and they go down fast and before you know it the whole bag is empty, but they leave you uneasily aware that you've just eaten junk food, and your mouth (brain) ends up feeling kind of funny and maybe just a touch queasy afterwards.
That said, I'll keep reading the rest of the series because it'll give me something to discuss with my mother.
Verdict: Read if you like the TV series.
