Got up on time (or early, given that it's a weekend) today and went over to the Farmer's Market about a half hour after it opened. I should always go that early! There was NO hunt for parking~! Picked up fruit and veg for myself and my mother, including ingredients for my part of Thanksgiving (cranberry sauce, succotash, and cornbread). I also purchased persimmons (two Hachiya and half a dozen Fuyu) on the basis that I've never tried persimmons before, so I should try them and see if I like them.

Dropped off my mother's part of the bounty at her place, then came home, wrote up a week's menu, put away dishes, did various things regarding a project, ran errands (Costco was out of the three-pound bags of cranberries, grr), tackled the patio garden (see last post for gory details), vacuumed the downstairs, had tokyokitty and her fiance over for dinner, and conquered the world.

Well, maybe not that last. But, like everyone else on LJ, I'm working on it. Soon, my precious....

Do not -do NOT- eat the Hachiyas until they are ripe and soft! (Trick to getting them ripe: put them in a brown paper bag with an apple)

I've just been waiting for them to soften in the fruit bowl--I will try the brown bag and apple trick, though. Thanks!
