Right. After stalking this volume for a long time, I finally managed to win a copy on eBay for a decent price. It's basically an official fanfic anthology, even though the opening note says that none of these stories are to be considered canon. The series range from G1 to Beast Wars/Machines to Armada. Granted I only watched enough to BM and Armada to be thoroughly unlikely to watch more, but I was able to follow the stories well enough.
Despite the theme being "legends," less than half the stories followed this. Some of the most interesting ones dealt with OCs and marginal-OCs. Pleasantly, several of the stories didn't shy away from interaction with humans. I also liked the existential meeting of Optomii (best plural for the name I can think of ^_^) in Maccadam's Oil Bar, and BW/BM's Megs getting a lesson about the Tree of Life. My favorites, I think, are the G1 stories "Joyride" and "Healers, Fighters, and Transformers" because they're each single-character studies and very well written. But a lot of others rank high in my mental lexicon of "TFs stories I would happily reread."
Verdict: If you're a Transformers fan, recommended.
