Green Thumbs: Just Me and My Watering Can

Post-work, I went to the community garden. Now, I know that now that all the plots are claimed and dug and people have put their plants in, there theoretically isn't as much work to do. Just watering and weeding, right? Well, unless you're me and are doing staggered plantings for some things and the hand-watering from eight gallon jugs of sun-warmed water for certain of your crops.... Still, it's eerie to so seldom see anyone else there. Though there was a squirrel feasting on the dried sunflower head someone had put up on the fence. And I saw Mr. Hummingbird again on Sunday, checking me out from several angles less than two feet away. Still, few to no people.

Anyhow, I have six summer squash plants and harvested my first squash from them today. Yellow and green zucchini, pan-fried in just a little olive oil and seasoned with simple pepper and a touch of salt, for dinner veg, yum!

That sounds really tranquil and nice, though! I'm enjoying your community garden posts. :)

We'd already been having fun watching the hummingbirds sip from our geraniums. When we got the fuchsias, the birds were all like "4 stars: great place to take a date" We see them all the time, now, and now that the red fuchsia has bloomed in addition to the pink and purple one, we're gonna get swarmed.

;_; I want fuchsias. Unfortunately, that requires a place to hang them from and the two pot hangers already have strawberries dangling from them.

Maybe if I rig up something under the stairs....

I'm waiting for the scarlet runner beans to start flowering, as they're hopefully going to cover most of the north fence and are said to also attract hummingbirds.
