When are we?

In the original Ultraman series (which, according to Moebius canon, happened forty years ago as it did in broadcast time), the date was given in episode twenty-two as 1993. Which means UM should happen in 2033, right? However, it's also mentioned in canon that the last Ultraman showed up twenty-five years ago. That would be 80, whose his name comes from the year his show was broadcast, 1980... which was also the graduating year of the students he taught, as shown on their banner, "Class of '80." Which means that Moebius happens in 2005, or roughly modern time. So... which timeline is correct? I'm tempted to go with the latter....
