Well, the organization that was going to take Lock, Stalk, and Barrel is currently full up on kittens so I get to mind them until I can find one that isn't. So I spent this evening starting to gentle them. And they've gotten to the point where they're not hissing at me, I can handle them gloveless (aka, I don't think they're going to scratch me), and I've even gotten them to purr once or twice. The trick-or-treaters seemed to like them, too. If all continues well, I'll give them the run of the laundry room tomorrow. I was given a half off coupon for a local vet, so I booked all three kittens and Paris into the vet on Saturday morning.
