Just watched the first episode of Meine Liebe on a friend's recommendation. Yes, it's very with the seiyuu, and yes, it's very with the pretty boys (designs by Yuki Kaori). I'm not sure if I like it or not, though. I'll give it a few episodes to win me over. And the five main characters are so by numbers it's silly. The Main Character with a Tragically Deceased Sister. The Sensitive Pseudo-Psychic Flower Boy. The Best Friend Punk with a Heart of Gold. The Token Traditionalist Stoic Japanese Guy. The Oppositional Force with Knee-Length Hair. Oh, and then there's The Evil Silver-Haired Teacher with Glasses. I'm feeling more pandered to here than I ever was with HaruToki, which had eight good bishounen plus one bad one.

It takes itself a bit too seriously IMO. We were laughing out loud for much of it - and not, one suspects, in a way the creators would have appreciated ^^; The idea of making a moat through Spain and calling it Cake. The Utena rose garden sequences. The very, very token traditional Japanese guy. The teacher standing against the window who we all thought was female until it turned around and we saw the huge beard.. and so on. Still, it was fun :)

The king was quite long-haired too, from the back. Hm - maybe the teacher isn't till episode two.. Was the fight in the first or second episode?

The duel is in episode one. Don't know if there's another in episode 2 or not.
