Quick Catch-Up
Oct. 5th, 2015 10:03 pmWonderful Husband is in Las Vegas this week for a work conference. Making me, essentially, a single parent until Friday. Trying not to panic! I can do it, I mean, I'm a SAHM, right? But there's always been a certain amount of relief to the thought that "oh, thank god, it's 6pm, someone else can amuse the Squiddle and I can have half an hour downtime." :)
Speaking of whom, the Squiddle is now able to differentiate between colors (as in "give me the red thing"), and has started vocalizing numbers. Specifically, the pattern "du-tree-foa-fibe-zix." No ones or numbers higher than six yet, but given he only started this yesterday, I'm entirely happy with it thus far. And we're training him that he has to help put away his toys before bed. I've stopped poring over the development books, so I've no idea if he's on track, ahead, or behind where he "should" be. And to a certain extent, I don't care. But then the other part of me thinks I need to pick up those books again and see where he should be at almost 25 months....
Relatedly, for the first time ever, I have passed my reading 50 books in a year! (I'm actually at 52.) I think a critical difference this year is that I've been reading a lot of books intended for a younger audience, and counting them. As well as finding a couple series that interested me, and working my way through them thanks to the library.
But now I'm off to work on layering the next baby quilt for the next baby shower... I have quilt guild meeting next Tuesday, and I'd like to have two quilts to display on top of the Whisper Challenge reveal.
