It's Never Too Hot For Snark
Aug. 12th, 2012 09:38 amYesterday it hit ninety inside the house. My body went through alternating periods of "yeah, okay, so it's a little warm" and "OMG dying *sweating bullets*". I would like it if my body could just make up its mind and settle on the former option, as it was much the pleasanter. Fortunately, the heat is supposed to break tomorrow.
In the meantime, I've been sewing, on the basis that sewing (1) does not involve me running around in the heat, and (2) the sewing desks are right in front of the doors. Breezeway! I'm working on Simplicity 2362, view B, which is something that I could wear to work, yet also light and summery. I should finish the dress today - I just need to pick up a zipper for it.
I have been using my serger for doing the seam finishes, and am getting more comfortable with it, which is kind of the point since my next project involves actual linen bed linens. Thing eats up an ungodly amount of thread, though, which... well, I have an ungodly amount of thread and need to clear out the collection, so that's good. The serger still needs a name. All the other machines have one. Must think on this.
(And, incidentally, Simplicity? Despite the running joke that "steampunk is what happened when Goths discovered brown," the two are not the same. Slapping a pair of goggles on something doesn't make it steampunk. Intriguing back lace inset aside, this pattern of yours does not work for both styles.)
Off to water the garden and sew. Best dessert ever: garden-grown Sugar Baby watermelon, fresh from the icebox.
