Final tier of the green petti now has all its gathering stitch line run, and is 5/16ths gathered and pinned to the tier above it. 11/16ths more to pin, and then only three seams left (two of them being applying the ribbon trim) and it's done. I will need to find my second box of quilting pins to finish the pinning, though; normal pins are too short for something as open-weave as nylon net, and each tier takes successively more pins. Sewing with the 101 gives an interesting result: when I tweaked the upper tension to allow for gathering, it produced a flat fabric. While doing so on Lilo, the netting was already gathering itself on the thread. I was using a flat foot on both machines, so I'm not sure why one was doing it and the other not. I will say the fabric looked a bit odd before I started pinning, with most of the tier a bit pre-gathered... but some not.
It was reputedly in the '80s in Anaheim yesterday, and given the residual warmth in the house all evening, I believe it. For the first time this year, we slept with the fan on and both of the bedroom windows open to let in the coolth. Slept well and deep; woke just a few minutes before the alarm. Washed dishes this morning, made a stab at finding the dining room table, watered those plants that I haven't put in the ground yet, and zip-tied the gate shut. Didn't quite have enough ties on hand; I need to grab four more to finish the job.
