I handed Wonderful Husband the article in Threads about the VPLL 1912 Project. I listed for him all the reasons I shouldn't do it. I'm juggling almost too many things as it is! He made hmming noises in all the right places and thought I should do it anyway.

So I signed up.

Time management skills. I must acquire them. I should study at the feet of [livejournal.com profile] mmouse15, who obviously has a Time Turner, as she manages to do more than seems humanly possible....

Also, have discovered that though Lowe's still sells 1/2" soaker hoses, they no longer carry 1/2" hose menders. Fortunately, Ace Hardware does. And apparently my local Ace has a VERY nicely appointed housewares section. Le Creuset! Also, lots and lots of canning equipment. Including wide-mouthed pint-and-a-half jars, and half gallon jars. I resisted, but good to know those are locally available.

The weekly ritual of ripping out devil grass resprout attempts from among the roses seems to be slowly bearing fruit. There was less grass to tear out this week....

One of the reasons Wonderful Husband deserves his title is his occasional bouts of psychically knowing what I'm going to ask him to do, and doing it before I actually look for him and ask him to do it. Today, this was mowing the lawns. ^_^ And since I was sewing at the time, with front and patio doors open, I could hear when he stopped the mower and emptied the grass clippings into the compost bin. Which meant when he went back to mowing, I could grab the basket from the shredder, sprinkle carbon-rich shredded paper atop the nitrogen-rich shredded grass, and wet it all down to help it decompose faster.

(At the moment, the majority of the stuff that gets shredded are my classmates' comments on copies of my stories after I've reviewed and incorporated them. This theoretically means that very soon my garden will be fed on a diet of stories.)

I actually had a moment out in the garden earlier, just after I finished watering everything. I was going to put the hose away when something vrrrrred very loudly right next to me. I jumped. The hummingbird was unimpressed. Well, I guess that answers who's been drinking out of the feeder.... :)

And, somehow I've got another volunteer blackberry on my hands! Which bewilders me because I thought I'd pulled all the rooted bits out of that bed. I'm going to let it get a couple weeks bigger, then put it in a pot next to the others.

Turkey carcass has been turned into turkey soup. Four of the six and a half quarts are in the pressure canner at the moment; the other two and a half are for us and my parents to consume relatively soon. I also got a good whack of work done on the green petticoat today; only four more seams to sew. Unfortunately, they're the long ones. This petti has been fighting me a lot more than the white one did. Part of it is the thread I'm using, which is odd because Gutermann's is supposed to be a good thread. But it's been snapping a lot more than the cheap-ass non-branded stuff I used on the white....
